THE ART OF INSUBORDINATION

TODD KASHDAN, PhD

For the month of April 2025, our member feature is the book "The Art of Insubordination" by Todd Kashdan, PhD. This book holds a special place in the heart of our founder, Dylan, who first read it in 2022. Todd’s words struck a chord with Dylan, inspiring him to forge his own path, embrace the unknown, and challenge the status quo in pursuit of changing the world. Among Dylan’s favorite sections are those where Todd explores how people often cling to oppressive societies, situations, and lifestyles, ignoring reality and even lashing out at those who strive to improve things out of spite. Equally compelling is Todd’s insight on raising children to see through illusions, fostering an awareness of today’s world and the ability to discern truth from nonsense—or, as Dylan puts it, to "know when to call bullshit." Dylan believes the world desperately needs to gain the consciousness of people like Todd to wake up and see the forest for the trees, a shift he sees as potentially the difference between the human race surviving or not.
